We are sad to announce that the second owners closed the business in June, 2024.

MarCon Pies ceased production in 2018 and was later purchased by Craig and Mary Ann Stertz who moved to Lincoln, Kansas. The industrious couple delivered their first handcrafted pies to retailers  in 2020. They used the same recipes and ingredients and sell the pies wholesale throughout Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri.

Marcon Pies was an 8 Wonder of Kansas Commerce because over 500-1500 pies are made daily by hand using fresh and health-conscious ingredients.

THE BEGINNING

MarCon Pies began over 30 years ago in the kitchens of Connie Allen and Marilyn Hanshaw. They began baking pies for auction lunch stands and developed a local pie delivery route.

"When our houses became filled with wall-to-wall pies, we opened a bakery in town," Connie said. Today, MarCon Pies sells 60 varieties of fresh and frozen pies to supermarkets, restaurants, and customers in their retail shop.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN MarConDon Pies!

Connie and Marilyn sold their business to Don Walsh, someone who has kept the quality and variety the same. However, they haven't hung up their rolling pins yet and still come in to help with baking or to offer pointers to new employees.

ABOUT THE PIES!

Fresh baked, baked frozen or unbaked frozen pies are made Monday through Friday and are delivered Tuesday through Saturday to over 100 eateries and supermarket customers in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. The number of pies baked daily varies form 200 to 600 plus with the holiday rush raising those numbers to 1,000 to 1,500 per day.
Over 60 varieties of fruit, crunch, nut, creme and cheesecakes are available. The pie crust, which uses cholesterol free canola oil, was adapted from a family recipe and is very tender and flaky. Sugar-free pies made with sucralose are available in fruit, crunch and cremes and are becoming very popular.
