Big Kansas Road Trip Pop Up Heads to Humboldt

Humboldt in Allen County will host the Kansas Sampler Foundation’s Spring 2026 Big Kansas Road Trip Pop Up on Saturday, May 2. A project of the non-profit Kansas Sampler Foundation, the purpose of the Pop Up event is to provide the public firsthand experiences in rural communities and allow small towns to showcase who they are and what they have. The public is invited. Events and activities are scheduled Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday to help people get to know Humboldt.

Friday evening programming features a music crawl with multiple artists, a nature walk at sunset led by the Audubon of Kansas on the banks of the Neosho River, and races at the Humboldt Speedway. Saturday morning includes a sunrise nature walk and a behind-the-scenes come and go open house at the restored Revival Music Hall before the official kick off at 10 a.m. on the square in the center of Humboldt. The staff of the Kansas Sampler Foundation will greet people and start the day with Kansas trivia. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Kansas Explorers Club and Big Kansas Road Trip merchandise will also be available.

Immediately following the kick off, BKRT attendees are invited to participate in a new feature for this event with a community service project, painting a mural on the public tornado shelter in Cannon Park. Big Kansas Road Trip events are known for connecting visitors with behind the scenes looks at local businesses and stories. Saturday afternoon will include a robust slate of tours, a variety of specials and discounts and local restaurants and businesses, live music and a Kentucky Derby Watch Party.

“Humboldt is already happening!” said Monica Frye, KSF Explore Kansas Program Manager. “The BKRT Pop Up will give Humboldt the chance to show off the best of its attractions and local businesses to a wider audience of visitors from Kansas and beyond to keep that momentum rolling.”

Kansas Explorers Club members and curious Kansans alike are welcome to get to know Humboldt at the Big Kansas Road Trip. The Kansas Explorers Club exists to encourage people to get addicted to taking back roads, visiting with locals, and putting money in local economies across Kansas.
