Sam Moon was surprised with a We Kan! award July 7 at the Osawatomie Public Library.
The presentation was made by Simone Elder of the Kansas Sampler Foundation with help from Kari Bradley who helped coordinate the gathering. Moon was surprised as family, community leaders, and friends filed into the Osawatomie Public Library. The short presentation included a colorful round plate with the words “Master of Making it Happen” engraved on it. The artist was Stacy Barnes of Greensburg.
Elder said, “Sam Moon is not only a dreamer, but also a doer, who we have seen step into roles in the community of Osawatomie and make a difference. Whether it’s a project at the library, with the Rotary, or gathering people from across the state, Sam is bringing her creativity, perseverance, and others along to make things happen.”
The Kansas Sampler Foundation, an Inman-based non-profit, has been choosing recipients every year since 1993 to show appreciation for dedicated work in helping preserve and sustain rural culture. KSF's We Kan! Network is made up of community leaders, doers, entrepreneurs, volunteers and rural advocates who desire to help rural communities be the best they can be at being themselves.
Sam Moon is the second of ten Kansans who will receive the We Kan! award in 2026.
