Big Rural Brainstorm on March 14

The Kansas Sampler Foundation announced that the second Big Rural Brainstorm will be held Friday, March 14 from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in Newton's Meridian Event Center.

Anyone interested in being part of a fast-paced, interactive, action-oriented event designed to move rural Kansas forward should register at kansassampler.org.  The cost of the event is $45, which includes a noon meal.  The deadline to register is March 7 with a limit of 200 participants.

Foundation director Marci Penner said, "We're looking for people who can contribute a seed of an idea to what we call collective brilliance.  It's not on any one person to solve everything but if we each add our own expertise and innovative ideas, then together we can move things along."

Though all ages are invited, community-doers from volunteer-led towns and PowerUps (those between 21-39 who are rural by choice) are specifically encouraged to attend.

Liz Sosa, PowerUp Liaison from Garden City said, "We encourage people from every aspect of rural life to attend, from the health care field and service sectors to those in education and business.  Each person's perspective is needed to create a dynamic environment.  We intend to create action by the end of the day, not just have ideas."
